Is Sculptra Used in Non-Surgical Buttock Augmentation?

Sculptra is an FDA-approved injectable filler that can correct deep wrinkles and reverse volume loss that can cause problems such as cheek sunken and chin wrinkles.

Sculptra is not used in Turkey, but its equivalents are available. And yes, the most common use is the non-surgical butt augmentation treatment to add a subtle volume and contour to the buttocks.

Why is It Preferred in Non-Surgical Buttock Augmentation?

Made from poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA), a biocompatible synthetic material that both adds volume and stimulates new collagen production in the deep dermis, Sculptra lasts longer than hyaluronic acid (HA) fillers like Juvéderm or Restylane.

For this reason, it is more preferred in non-surgical buttock augmentation. However, it is not recommended to be used as lip or under eye filler.

Sculptra causes collagen formation in and under your skin and fat pads, literally acting as a seed to regenerate lost collagen.

Some doctors even use the Sculptra filler to increase volume in the thighs, triceps, biceps and pectoral areas. It is also known to be used to reduce wrinkles on the elbows, chest and knees and to fill cellulite pits.

What are The Pros and Cons of Sculptra Filler?

Sculptra

Pros

  • Sculptra is one of the longest-lasting injectable treatments: results usually last two to three years.

  • The best results occur four to six months after treatment because it has a structure that stimulates natural collagen production. No one will know that you are getting anything done, as the results develop gradually.

  • The recovery period for this non-surgical procedure is extremely short.

  • It is non-surgical, it can be applied to patients who are afraid of surgery.

  • It is an alternative for those who are considering fat transfer or butt implants but cannot predict how it will look. Assists in the decision-making process for surgery.

  • It is also suitable for those who cannot have fat transfer because they do not have enough fat in their body, but want to gain volume.

  • Does not carry the possible risks of surgery

Cons

  • Sculptra costs more than double the price you would pay for hyaluronic acid-based fillers.

  • While the results are not permanent, they cannot be quickly reversed if you do not like the results or experience a complication; It should be expected to decrease over time.

  • Sculptra requires patience. You will likely need more than one treatment over a few months to get the result you want.

  • Possible side effects of Sculptra treatment include bruising, asymmetry and the development of nodules under the skin.

Research shows that Sculptra increases the production of new collagen by low-level stimulation in the deeper layers of the skin, which in turn stimulates the production of new collagen for up to 24 months.

This new collagen tightens the skin, provides volume, increases skin thickness and makes an overall improvement in texture.

Sculptra injections are usually given in less than an hour. Your doctor first examines the area to be treated, marks the injection sites and prepares the area with an antiseptic.

Topical anesthesia can also be used before injections. Your doctor may mix the Sculptra injection with a numbing agent such as lidocaine to help relieve discomfort. Most people report experiencing very little pain.

After your injections, your doctor will massage the area to help distribute the Sculptra and prevent the formation of lumps or nodules under the skin.

He will also recommend massaging the area on your own five times a day for about a week after the procedure to avoid this. Your doctor will show you how to do the massage.

What will I Experience After Sculptra?

Most patients can return to their normal activities immediately after treatment. It is recommended to apply an ice compress to the injection site on the first day. This will help reduce any discomfort or swelling.

You start to see longer-lasting results of increased collagen production approximately three months after the first treatment series and maximum results four to six months after the first treatment session.

Sculptra takes two to three years, much longer than many hyaluronic acid-based fillers, which usually take 6 to 18 months (depending on your metabolism).
