Turkish Rhinoplasty Surgeons With International Standing

Search for a nose job in Turkey and you will find endless “top 10” lists. This one works differently. We do not rank anyone, and we do not call any surgeon “the best” — nobody can honestly prove that. Instead we looked for something you can check yourself: public, verifiable roles beyond Turkey’s borders.

How we chose. A surgeon appears in the main section only if we could find a public source for at least one of these:

• leading an international professional society (for example as president);
• authoring a book or textbook with an international publisher;
• teaching or organising international courses and congresses;
• holding an international professional qualification.

Each claim below links to its source where one is public. Where we could not confirm something, we left it out. A title or a book does not tell you who will get you the result you want — it tells you that the surgeon’s work is visible to peers. Think of it as a reading list, not a verdict. Every surgeon is also listed with a way to ask for a quote. Details at the bottom.

Why Turkish surgeons stand out

Rhinoplasty is not new in Turkey, and the country’s surgeons are not just visitors at international meetings — they host them and lead them. A few facts, all checkable:

• Two ISAPS presidents. The International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ISAPS) lists two presidents from Turkey: K. Guler Gursu (2000–2002) and Nazim Cerkes, MD, PhD (2020–2022). ISAPS past presidents
• The ISAPS World Congress came to Istanbul. The 26th ISAPS World Congress was held in Istanbul on 20–24 September 2022, chaired by Nazim Cerkes. ISAPS congress page
• A European rhinoplasty society was founded with a Turkish surgeon. The Rhinoplasty Society of Europe records its foundation in Stuttgart in May 2011 “by Nazim Cerkes” among nine founders; Cerkes later served as its president. RSE about page
• A Turkish president of the US-based Rhinoplasty Society. Onur Erol served as president in 2015–2016. He is the only president from outside North America on the society’s list of past presidents. The Rhinoplasty Society

None of this says every operation in Turkey is better than elsewhere. It says the country has an established professional community that teaches, publishes and organises at an international level.

The surgeons

Prof. Dr. Onur Erol — president of The Rhinoplasty Society (2015–2016)

Professor Onur Erol, a plastic surgeon from Istanbul, is listed by The Rhinoplasty Society — the US-based professional society for rhinoplasty surgeons — as its president for 2015–2016, the only president from outside North America in the list of past presidents. He practises at his own centre, ONEP, in Levent, Istanbul.

Prof. Dr. Nazim Cerkes — ISAPS president (2020–2022)

Nazim Cerkes served as ISAPS president in 2020–2022, chaired the ISAPS World Congress in Istanbul in 2022, and was a founder and later president of the Rhinoplasty Society of Europe. He has taught rhinoplasty courses in Istanbul and hosts ISAPS fellows. He practises in Istanbul at his own Cosmed Aesthetic Plastic Surgery Center.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Baris Cakir — author of Aesthetic Septorhinoplasty

Barış Çakır graduated from Çukurova University (1999), became a plastic surgery specialist in 2004 and practises in Istanbul. He is the author of Aesthetic Septorhinoplasty (Springer, 2016; a revised second edition has since been published), a textbook on the closed approach. He taught a closed-rhinoplasty session at the Official ISAPS Rhinoplasty Course, Istanbul 2019.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Guncel Ozturk — FEBOPRAS and author of Burun Sanatı (“Nose Art”)

Güncel Öztürk, an Istanbul plastic surgeon, holds the European board qualification (FEBOPRAS) and is listed as an international member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons. He is also a sculptor and wrote Burun Sanatı (“Nose Art”), a Turkish-language book (Doğan Kitap, 2017) that looks at the nose through geography, history, sculpture and painting. It is an art-and-aesthetics book, not a surgical manual. He practises at his clinic in Nişantaşı, Istanbul.
