Labiaplasty in Turkey
Labiaplasty is surgery to reduce or reshape the labia minora - the inner lips of the vulva. The surgeon removes excess tissue so the inner lips sit at, or just inside, the outer lips. It is a short operation, usually done as a day case, with dissolvable stitches.
Women ask about it for physical reasons - rubbing or pain during exercise, cycling or sex, twisting, irritation - and for how it looks or feels in tight clothes. Labia vary a lot in size, shape and colour, and asymmetry is normal. Surgery is a personal choice for adults (18+), and a good surgeon will talk you through what it can and can’t change.

How labiaplasty is done
There are two main techniques. In the trim (edge) technique the surgeon removes the excess along the outer edge of the inner lips. It is simple and predictable, and it removes darker edge tissue if that bothers you. In the wedge technique a V-shaped piece is taken from the middle of each lip and the edges are joined, which keeps the natural edge. It needs more precise planning and has a slightly higher risk of the wound opening.
Many women also have extra skin on the clitoral hood. Reducing it at the same time (clitoral hood reduction) can give a more balanced result - your surgeon will say whether it makes sense for you. Reducing the outer lips (labia majora) is a different operation.
Who is it for?
- Adults (18+) whose inner lips cause rubbing, pain or irritation in daily life, sport or sex
- Women who feel self-conscious about how their labia look or feel in clothes
- Changes after childbirth, weight change or ageing
- In good general health, not smoking - or able to stop for some weeks around surgery
- Realistic expectations: the aim is comfort and a natural look, not a “standard” shape
Wait until you have finished having children if you can, as birth can change the area again. If you are unsure whether your labia are “normal”, they almost certainly are - talking it through with a GP or gynaecologist first is a good idea, and an honest surgeon will tell you if surgery is not needed.
The day of surgery
The operation takes about 1–2 hours. It is done under local anaesthesia with sedation, or under general anaesthesia - your surgeon will explain the options. Fine dissolvable stitches close the wound. Most women go back to the hotel the same day or after one night in hospital.
Recovery, week by week
- First days: swelling, soreness and some bruising - painkillers, cold packs and rest help
- Week 1: most women are back at a desk job; wear loose cotton underwear and avoid long periods of sitting
- Weeks 2–3: stitches dissolve; swelling goes down day by day
- Weeks 4–6: back to sex, tampons, swimming, cycling and the gym once your surgeon says so
- 3–6 months: the final shape and softness settle
Flying home after about 5–7 days is usually fine - wear loose clothes, drink water and walk around on the plane.
Risks and what can go wrong
- Bleeding or a collection of blood (haematoma)
- Infection
- The wound opening up, more common with the wedge technique
- Asymmetry or an uneven edge
- Removing too much tissue - this is very hard to correct, so a conservative surgeon is a good sign
- Scarring, tenderness or changes in sensation
- Pain during sex, which is uncommon
Most women in published studies are satisfied with the result, but a small number need a touch-up. Ask your surgeon how often that happens in their practice and what a revision would cost.
What results to expect
The aim is inner lips that no longer catch, twist or rub, and a shape that looks natural for you. Scars sit along natural folds and usually fade well. Labiaplasty does not tighten the vagina and is not meant to improve sexual pleasure - it can make sex more comfortable if the labia were in the way. Results are long-lasting, though childbirth and ageing can change the area again.
Choosing a surgeon
Labiaplasty is done by plastic surgeons and by gynaecologists. Look for someone who does it regularly, shows you a range of possible results, explains the trim and wedge options and does not push you to remove more. On &NewMe you can compare the surgeons we list, their hospital and their package before you pay anything.

Frequently asked questions
Is labiaplasty painful?
You should not feel pain during surgery. Afterwards most women describe soreness and swelling rather than sharp pain, worst in the first 2–3 days and managed with ordinary painkillers and cold packs.
How long do I need to stay in Turkey?
Usually 5–7 days: a consultation, surgery, a few days of rest and a check-up before you fly. If you combine it with another procedure, the stay is longer - your written quote sets it out.
When can I have sex again?
Usually after 4–6 weeks, once the wounds have fully healed and your surgeon agrees. The same applies to tampons, swimming, cycling and the gym.
Will it affect sensation?
The inner lips are reduced, not the clitoris, and most women report no lasting change in sensation. Temporary numbness or tenderness is common while healing. Over-aggressive removal and nerve injury are rare risks - another reason to choose an experienced surgeon.
Can I have children after labiaplasty?
Yes. Labiaplasty does not affect pregnancy or vaginal birth, but birth can stretch or tear the area again, so many surgeons suggest waiting until you have finished having children.
Is there an age limit?
&NewMe only arranges labiaplasty for adults aged 18 and over. In teenagers the labia are still developing, and medical guidance is to avoid cosmetic genital surgery.
What is included in the price?
Listed packages cover the surgeon and anaesthesia fees and the hospital stay for the operation. Hotel, transfers, flights, clitoral hood reduction and any combined procedures are usually extra - your written quote lists exactly what is included.
Is my enquiry private?
Yes. Your messages stay in your WhatsApp chat with your &NewMe coordinator. Photos are optional and are shared only with the surgeon assessing you. We never publish anything about you.
